About Kaelin (she/her)
I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling from Acadia University (M.Ed, 2012) and am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC-S) with designation as a clincial supervisor. I have ten years of experience providing both individual and group therapy for people coping with a variety of mental health challenges including PTSD and complex trauma. I am also certified and experienced in clinical supervision and hold the masters level certification as a professional coach with Integral Coaching Canada™.
In addition to my counselling degree, I hold a Bachelor’s of Education from Ottawa University (2004) and have over twenty years of experience facilitating group processes in a variety of contexts including wilderness-based, therapeutic and psycho-educational.
When working with clients therapeutically, I use an integrative approach drawing on knowledge from several clinical modalities – primarily Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT- certified through Evergreen Certifications), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Most importantly, through skillful listening, warmth and compassion – creating safety – I work to see strengths and learn what is deeply important to each person I work with. I meet clients where they’re at, and together we create a roadmap to wellbeing.
I’ve lived in the Yukon for 16 years and appreciate the unique realities and perspectives of living in the North.
When I’m not working with clients, I enjoy spending time with my family, sharing a cup of coffee and conversation with friends, or being out on Yukon’s beautiful trails and waterways.
